What Exactly is Far Infrared Heat?

What exactly is infrared heat? Infrared heat is a form of radiant energy that directly heats objects by invisible waves of light, rather than heating the air in between the heat source and the objects. For instance, the sun doesn't give you direct heat. The sun actually heats the earth and the earth reflects the heat which then heats the air you feel. Should asphalt driveway crack fill get hot and sticky in heat.?

I recently had my asphalt driveway seal coated. They filled the cracks with a hot substance. This substance is darker than the seal coating and is exposed between the cracks. In the sun, it heats up and becomes a soft tar. Dirt and grass clippings stick to it and it can easily come off. Is this normal, or should there be some layer of protection (i.e. hardened seal coat) over it? It rained a few hours after the application and I am concerned that this weakened the coating, causing this condition.

Am not an expert. Do not believe the rain weakened the bonding. It gets very hot in direct sunlight. I have walked on highways on hot days and have noticed tar bubbles on the pavement. The stuff just melts when it gets hot. I think it is just normal to get sticky.
