what foundation do I get if I have fair skin, but the plan on tanning?

so I have relatively mild skin I am a redhead with freckles, but people tell me I'm not really that pale like most redheads, but recently I've been getting tanner on my arms and legs and I'll to put tanner buy school starts I heard its supposed to buy a base two shades darker than your skin tone, is this true? What color I can get? You should not go in "two shades darker" because there is no way to measure how so you get - unless you mix it with your lighter foundation to get a shadow in the middle. I would say, go buy a pharmacy base - that way you will not feel so bad if the color is not a perfect match, try it at home, then go back and buy a second one is lighter / darker to suit your preferences. You can always try to mix them if you do not reach perfect.
