Is it rude to close your eyes while the dentist does dental work on you?

I have a TV above me which i could watch but the dental assistant usually stands in the way so i usually close my eyes and clutch the arms of the chair cos im afraid of pain, haha. is this normal to close yor eyes or is it rude?

As a dentist, I would tell you to do what makes you feel comfortable! You are not being rude at all! In fact, I encourage me patients to bring in Ipods, or they can watch a movie on my Icuiti Glasses, or they can just close their eyes and fall asleep! It is tough for some people to lay in a dental chair, and as a dental provider, the comfort of my patients comes first. Close your eyes, relax and go on a mental vacation! It's all good!
